Sestola / DISCOVER THE AREA / ART AND CULTURE / churches, baptisteries

  • This XVIIth century building with one nave, preserves part of its apsis in Romanesque style. It is located on a cliff, where probably, in ancient times, a castle stood. In the inside, it is possible to find prized XVIIth century paintings done by "Emilian school". Worth mentioning are also the XVIIth century altarpieces in golden wood and the various furnishing objects. It is open on Saturday afternoons, on Mondays from 11 on, and every time the parish priest is in the parsonage. To be able to visit and to receive further information ask the parish priest (tel. 0536/64014) or contact Mr Bernardini the tabacco shop of the town. The church and the village festival takes place on the first Sunday of August.
